Bern: Person holed up in the house – police were on site with a large number

A reader reported a large police and fire brigade presence in the Stöckacker in Bern on Wednesday evening. Four fire engines and around ten police cars have been in use for about two hours, according to the reader. “The police were armed with protective vests, protective shields and helmets when they entered the apartment block.”

The Bern canton police confirmed the contingent. “A person who has threatened to possibly harm himself does not want to come out of the house,” said media spokeswoman Lena Zurbuchen on Wednesday evening. The action has been running since afternoon. The Kapo had been asked for support by the paramedics. According to Schutz und Rettung Bern, both the medical police and the professional fire brigade were on site.

The mission ended at 7.15 p.m., the reader said. “But I have just seen the emergency services come into the house with flashlights.”

As Lena Zurbuchen later confirmed, the police were able to contact the person concerned on Wednesday evening and stop them in the house unharmed. “She is now receiving medical help.”
