The motorway tunnels in the canton of Bern will be cleaned in the next week. There are then blockages and diversions.
The Neufeld tunnel and the Brünnen tunnel on the A1 motorway and the Sonnenhof tunnel on the A6 will be cleaned next week. While only individual lanes have to be closed in the Sonnenhof tunnel as part of the cleaning campaign, traffic in the other tunnels is partially diverted, as the Federal Roads Office (Astra) announced in a communiqué on Friday.
The main purpose of cleaning is to ensure safety. Various control and maintenance work takes place at the same time. In the Bern area, this work involves various night assignments.
So the Sonnenhof tunnel of the A6 will be in the night of 17./18. May cleaned. In the Neufeldtunnel the tunnel tube has to be closed and the traffic has to be rerouted locally. The closure is on the night of 18./19. Scheduled May from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
In the Brünnen tunnel, cleaning takes place on the night of 19./20. May in the direction of Lausanne and in the night of 20./21. May in the direction of Bern from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Traffic in the relevant direction will be rerouted locally via the new Murtenstrasse.
