The Bern city festival will be postponed for another year. It will now take place from June 24th to 26th, 2022, as the organizers announced on Tuesday.
You justify the postponement with the current planning uncertainty. What will be possible in summer 2021 will only be able to be realistically assessed in May or June. The organization of a party in this dimension needs a longer lead time.
The Bern city government supports the postponement, as stated in the communiqué. “The city festival will gain additional importance in 2022, as the city will return to vibrant life after the pandemic,” said Mayor Alec von Graffenried in the organizers’ communiqué.
City festivals do not have such a long tradition in Bern as in other Swiss cities, some of which are “festivals” every year. The penultimate Bern city festival took place in 1991, the last in 2016. The organizers originally planned a new edition in June 2020, but had to postpone it due to Corona.
