The Bern Cantonal Police today introduced the digital recording of fines with a QR code throughout the entire Canton of Bern.
The positive experiences from the pilot project in the Bernese Oberland and the municipality of Bern have led to the definitive introduction of digital bus recording.
On Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Bern Cantonal Police definitely introduced digital bus registration with QR codes across the canton. The introduction of various digital parking management systems in the canton of Bern places new demands on the control of stationary traffic and bus recording.
In addition to the ability to control digitally managed parking spaces, the introduction of digital bus recording is intended to reduce administrative effort and advance the digital transformation of the cantonal administration.
The original pilot project that started on August 18, 2023 in the Bernese Oberland, which was expanded to the municipality of Bern on September 18, 2023 following positive experiences, was successfully completed. The positive experiences from the pilot project led to its definitive introduction to the Bern Cantonal Police.
The fines will now be provided with a QR code, offering citizens an additional quick and easy way to pay the fines directly online or to report a responsible driver on their own internet portal. People who do not want to pay the fines via the internet portal do not have to do anything and will receive the payment information by post.
