Helen Mirren received the Golden Honorary Bear for her life’s work at the Berlin Film Festival. The laudation said that she would develop decorative female roles into complex female characters.
The honorary bear can join an extensive collection of prizes. The British actress received an Oscar for her role as Queen in the film of the same name in 2007, as well as a Golden Globe, a British Academy Award and the European Film Award. The little bear is so cute, Mirren said, that her Oscar would fall in love with him.
In relation to her life’s work, Mirren said she saw herself as a British and European and that would always be the case, with or without Brexit.
The 70th Berlinale will end on Saturday evening with the awarding of the golden and silver bear.
