Berlin wakes up after Putin’s attack in a “new order of time”

The most powerful country in Europe is facing the ruins of its Russia policy. Does the new government have to change its program?

Berlin. These are shades of the German shock after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Schalke 04 ordered new jerseys on Thursday. The football club will no longer use the logo of the Russian sponsor Gazprom with immediate effect. A senior club official at Schalke also has to go: Matthias Warnig, the ex-Stasi officer, friend and confidante of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Others are horrified, but initially do not draw any conclusions: Ex-Chancellor and gas lobbyist Gerhard Schröder (SPD) wants to keep his supervisory board post in Russia, there is no threat of being expelled from the party.
