The footballers of the Berlin Thunder started the European League with a clear victory. On Saturday evening, the Berliners won 36:3 (14:3) at the Fehervar Enthrones. In other words: The league newcomer from Hungary had no chance.
Head coach Johny Schmuck’s team traveled to Hungary by bus via the Czech Republic and Slovakia. And even if the team had set out the day before the game, the hardships of the journey were obvious. It is all the more remarkable that the Thunder’s victory was so clear in the end.
With the success, the capital’s football team underpinned their ambitions to play for the title in the European League this year. In the previous season, the Berliners had just missed the playoffs.
