Berlin wants to get the conference business in the capital going again with a congress fund. Organizers can receive a grant of 25 to 35 euros per participant who come to the congress in Berlin, announced the Senate Department for Economics on Friday. A fund with a total of ten million euros is available for this.
Before the pandemic, congresses were an important economic factor for Berlin. In 2018, according to figures from the Berlin Tourism and Congress Society, they brought around twelve million guests to the city. This led to a total turnover in the conference and congress business of around 2.63 billion euros.
