Berlin Street Style: Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg

BerlinIn the nineties and noughties, Kastanienallee was also called “Castingallee”. People were seen here, and apparently most of them wanted to. In truth, however, a lot of people lived here who had just come to Berlin, who financed their studies with unconventional part-time jobs, looked damn good at the same time and quite unintentionally co-founded the Berlin latte macchiato culture. There are still some shops from back then, such as the small streetwear shop “Eisdieler.” That is a good sign for a neighborhood that has since created a lot of new things. A Porsche would have been a sensation here twenty years ago. Today a Boxter is parked next to a 924, between other youngtimers, hippie buses and sturdy small cars. And what about the people? Old friends, many new faces and the realization that Kastanienallee is an extremely pleasant place to be. Still.

Outfit à la Mama: Schoolgirl Pepe likes to use her mother’s wardrobe, which she takes note of with mixed feelings. The vintage Rodenstock glasses, blouse and boots are borrowed, the skirt and necklace belong to Pepe. The mullet is inspired by the Japanese visual kei style.

The chain pendant is a replica of the “Glock 17” pistol, bought in a gun shop in Poland.

Charlotte is training to be a kindergarten teacher, from time to time she works as a model. The highlight of her look is the dirndl that she bought in a second-hand shop in Munich. By hand she changed the beautiful piece herself for the perfect fit. She also wears a cap from Burlington, a t-shirt from Mc Hardcore, and shoes from Clarks. She almost never wears jewelry because she always loses it, she says. In any case, this is not missing from the outfit.

The bracelet with the name tag “Frank” on Stefan’s arm once belonged to his father.

Martin is the second ice cream parlor operator. He has a weakness for young and old timers. His 924 Porsche Turbo is a rare racing model. He wears a jacket from his own brand, Bowler Berlin, as well as tennis shoes from Spring Court. By the way, John Lennon and Yoko Ono wore the same to their wedding.

Agatha Powa

The jacket is inspired by vintage racing jackets from the 1930s. Everything is geared towards function, such as the round watch window or the breast pockets for driver ID and cigarettes.

We meet product designer Filip in front of the legendary second-hand shop Pauls Boutique in Oderberger Straße, which leads off Kastanienallee. Obviously Filip likes to wear black, but he also likes colorful outfits, as he emphasizes. The trousers, which were inspired by Persian fashion, were made a little bit by himself.

Cinematographer Luc mainly shoots commercials. When he flew to Oregon for a job a few years ago, his luggage was lost and he had to buy cheap replacement clothing locally. He found this Nintendo shirt at TK Maxx for as much as 6 dollars. The floral tattoo is very fresh, it symbolizes the dried flowers with which the couple decorated their shared apartment. Luc met his girlfriend in the school yard. Very romantic!

Luc also bought the Adidas ADI-EASE sneakers when his luggage was lost in the USA. Since then he has been a fan of this model, which he now has in many colors.
