In Berlin, dramatic scenes take place at an S-Bahn station in the northeast of the city. A train is on fire there, and the fire is spreading in several carriages. Luckily there are hardly any people on board.
A train caught fire in the Ahrensfelde S-Bahn station in Berlin. When the fire brigade arrived in the evening, the three wagons were already completely engulfed in flames, as a fire brigade spokesman said. There were no passengers on the train.
The train driver and a train attendant were treated on site by paramedics, the spokesman said. But they were not injured. The flames have now almost been extinguished. The emergency services are currently putting out the last embers.
A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn said that the Berlin-Ahrensfelde train station is currently closed. The burning train was not a Deutsche Bahn train, but rather a private Niederbarnim railway. Further information about the operation was initially not available.
