Because of numerous allegations, Patricia Schlesinger has resigned as RBB director. Now the Berlin public prosecutor’s office is investigating – also against her husband and the previous RBB board chief. It is about the initial suspicion of infidelity and taking advantage.

DThe Berlin public prosecutor’s office has initiated preliminary proceedings against the resigned RBB director Patricia Schlesinger, her husband, the former “Spiegel” journalist Gerhard Spörl, and the previous RBB administrative board chief Wolf-Dieter Wolf.

A spokeswoman for the public prosecutor confirmed this to WELT. It is about the initial suspicion of infidelity and taking advantage. The reason for the investigations are the press reports of the past few days. First the Berliner haddaily mirrorreported about it.

The AfD parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament had already filed criminal charges against Schlesinger, Spörl and Wolf in July. At that time, however, the public prosecutor’s office had not been able to recognize any suspicion and accordingly did not start any investigations.

Schlesinger resigned as RBB director on Sunday in view of the accusations that had been increasing for weeks. She had previously withdrawn from the ARD presidency.

Numerous allegations against Schlesinger

Schlesinger was criticized for various affairs. Among other things, it is about the use of her company car, non-compliant use of her private e-mail address, business meals in her private rooms and a dubious bonus.

Some of the allegations also concern RBB’s head of the board of directors, Wolf, and Schlesinger’s husband, Gerhard Spörl. Wolf is said to have provided Spörl with lucrative consulting contracts in his role as head of the supervisory board of the state-owned Messe Berlin trade fair. These are said to have had a total value of 140,000 euros. The “Bild” newspaper also reports on expensive renovations in Schlesinger’s office.
