The Berlin police raided organized drug crime on Tuesday morning. 14 objects were searched and five suspects were arrested, the police said.
In addition, assets in the amount of 478,000 euros were frozen by the investigators through so-called asset arrest orders. Extensive evidence has been secured, which is now being evaluated, the police said. Around 200 investigators were involved in the operation.

As the public prosecutor’s office in Berlin announced in the morning on Twitter, it is about a so-called coke taxi. More than 2,200 cocaine sales are said to have been carried out.
The searches “served to further clarify the criminal structures and the crimes committed by the association as well as to secure assets,” said the police.
In total, there are 13 suspects of different nationalities between the ages of 23 and 45 years. They have been investigated for five months.

“Drugs are still the lubricant of organized crime,” said the police union (GdP) on Tuesday. The deployment is an example of how gangs operate more and more internationally and more mobile. More and more networks and businesses are being organized using messenger services.
Marijuana, cocaine and amphetamine pills have been ordered by customers in large cities for years via the Internet or messenger services and then delivered by dealers in inconspicuous cars known as coke taxis. In Berlin, drug dealers with coke delivery services have already been tried several times. The Berlin police have increased their focus on cocaine taxis.
Only in the autumn a trial against a coke taxi gang had started at the criminal court. The defendants are said to have delivered cocaine from a headquarters in Hellersdorf to drugs by limousine throughout the city.
