Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. European concert

Liepaja Concert Hall “Big Amber” is expected to host the biggest event in the history of the concert hall – the world-famous Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra together with the outstanding conductor Kirill Petrenko will offer an ambitious “European concert” for the first time in Latvia. In this concert, the orchestra will perform together with one of the brightest stars of opera music in the world – Elīna Garanča.

A special concert program has been compiled especially for Liepāja, in which the authors of the opuses included talk about freedom and self-determination. The emotionally intense compositions of Peter Vasks, the glorious patriot of Latvia, the living legend of Ukraine Valentin Silvestrov and the symbol of Finnish national independence Jean Sibelius will be performed. The program also includes the symphonic story of the Czech genius Leos Janáček about the heroic Cossack ataman Taras Bubu and a vital and colorful cycle of world folk songs by the Italian intellectual Luciano Berio, in which the soloist will be the internationally sought-after Latvian singer Elīna Garanča.
