There is growing evidence that the ‘loose lioness’ in Berlin was in fact a wild boar. Research into the faeces and a hair also confirm that theory.
The excrement shows that the animal mainly eats plants. As a result, it cannot actually be a predator. A found hair also points to a wild boar. The structure of a lion’s hair is very different, experts say.
After an analysis of the video images, experts had already concluded that the silhouette does not fit a lioness, but rather a wild boar.
Police launched a search after the video footage came out. According to eyewitnesses, the lioness attacked a wild boar along a road.

Quest with drones, armored car and helicopters
The police spent more than a day with 120 men looking for the animal. She deployed an armored car, drones and a helicopter on Thursday. Residents of the search area were asked to stay indoors and to keep their pets indoors.
It was uncertain from the start whether it was a lioness, especially since no lioness was missing anywhere. Zoos, circuses and animal shelters did not miss animals.
In Berlin it is illegal to keep a lion as a private individual. But that is allowed in the neighboring state of Brandenburg, where Kleinmachnow is located.
