The Golden Bear Award for Best Picture was awarded to a film co-produced by Romania, Luxembourg, Croatia and the Czech Republic. The jury said in the award speech that the film is rich in the scarce quality of classic works of art, captures the characteristics of the current era, and impacts the usual social traditions through the lens.

The Silver Bear Award of the Jury Award of this year’s film festival was awarded to the Japanese film “Accident and Imagination”. Hungarian director Denes Nagy won the Silver Bear Award for Best Director for directing “Natural Light”. The Silver Bear Award for Best Screenplay was won by the Korean film “Introduction”.

The Silver Bear Award for Best Leading Role and Supporting Role at this year’s Film Festival replaced the Silver Bear Award for Best Actor and Actress in previous years for the first time. The awards were won by German actress Marene Egert and Hungarian actress Lilo Kezlinger.

The 71st Berlin International Film Festival opened online on March 1st. A total of 15 films participated in the main competition unit for the Gold and Silver Bear Awards. The awards were jointly judged by the 6 best film directors of the previous Golden Bear Awards.
