Berlin (dpa / bb) – As in 2017, the Berlin FDP is going into the federal election campaign with Christoph Meyer as the top candidate. At an election meeting on Friday, around 78 percent of the delegates voted for the 45-year-old politician from Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, who has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017. Meyer had 193 votes in favor, 46 against and 8 abstentions. He had no opponent.

“We are optimists, and that’s exactly how we want to shape the country: consistently progressive and liberal,” said Meyer. “We’re not playing on the pitch in 2021, we’re playing to win, because we want to bring Germany and Berlin forward by joining a government coalition.” Only the FDP stands without ifs or buts to private property, individual property and the image of self-determined, responsible people.

The Bundestag and the Berlin House of Representatives will be re-elected on September 26th.
