Exhibition and panel discussion in the Rotes Rathaus
A show with Michaela Gericke and Shelly Kupferberg
With 33 percent female professors at the universities, Berlin is known nationwide as the “capital of women scientists” and is therefore almost exemplary, but the ratio is not yet equal. How visible and audible are the female scientists as a rule?
Of course, we know the art historian Benédicte Savoy, born in Paris in 1972, with her provenance research results. And otherwise? With an exhibition on 22 historical and contemporary women scientists, the Berlin Senate Chancellery, in collaboration with the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) in the Rotes Rathaus women who – exemplary for many other colleagues – work or have worked beyond Berlin.

How successfully can women advance their careers in science? Which hurdles have to be overcome? About it has Shelly Kupferberg spoke to the following guests in the Rotes Rathaus:
Prof. Dr. Jule Specht (Humboldt University of Berlin), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Silke Koehler (Berlin University of Technology), Every Coin (Wikipedian) and Prof. Dr. Christopher Baum (Chairman of the Board of the Berlin Institute for Health Research (BIH): www.bihealth.org
We document the event in a slightly abbreviated form.
The exhibition “Berlin – Capital of Women Scientists” is open from October 20 to December 20, 2021 in the Rotes Rathaus, Rathausstrasse 15, 10178 Berlin, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission.
