Beriulsconi’s Controversial Art Collection: Low-quality Works or Hidden Masterpieces?

Berlusconi’s collection has been repeatedly derided by Italy’s most recognizable art critics, stating that all 25,000 paintings are mostly low-quality works that are not worth anything. Only six or seven paintings had real artistic value.

It contains paintings of Madonnas, nude women and landscapes of Paris, Naples and Venice.

But Berlusconi also owned works of higher quality, including paintings by Renaissance artist Titian and legendary Dutch artist Rembrandt.

It also houses sculptures bought by Berlusconi through various television programs. Maintaining the extensive collection has caused significant headaches for his heirs – the maintenance costs of the warehouse where they are stored reach approximately 800,000 euros every year.

Some of the paintings have already been eaten by worms.
