Berget confirms – leaves MFF: “Football can be brutal”

Malmö FF’s Norwegian forward Jo Inge Berget, 32, returned to Skåne in 2019 and has risen to a high profile in the association over the years.

Now the 32-year-old announces, via his Instagram account, that he will be leaving the club.

“2023 – Here we go! Unfortunately, I have to say thank you and see you Malmö FF. Football can be brutal. It’s strange to want to move forward, but not to be wanted anymore. Seven years old, three children, five titles, two Champions Leagues, two Europa Leagues, 253 games, 59 goals, 52 assists and 100% heart. I am proud of my time at MFF. Proud of what I did, who I was and what we achieved together. I have gained memories and friends for life,” he writes on Instagram.

He also writes:

“Now it will be exciting to see what the future will bring.”

Berget first arrived at MFF from Cardiff in 2015 and then departed for New York City in 2018, where he stayed for just over a year before returning to Skåne.

Berget scored two goals and three assists in 22 appearances for Allsvenskan last year.

The football channel is looking for MFF sports director Daniel Andersson.
