Bergen: – – Has been in a queue for two hours

Yesterday, 2890 people tested themselves for the coronavirus in Bergen, informs the municipality.

Even today, many have chosen to take the trip to one of the city’s test stations, and at the test station at Festplassen in the city center, there has been a particularly long queue.

Dagbladet’s photos show that the queue at the test station at 12.00 stretched around large parts of Lille Lungegårdsvannet.

Two hours queue

One of those waiting here is Martin Kulild (57).

– I’m in a queue to take a test with maybe 200 – 300 other people. Now I have been standing here for exactly two hours, says Kulild to Dagbladet.

The mood is still not bad, according to him.

– It’s good weather Bergen, points out the 57-year-old, who further says that the queue people both wear face masks and maintain the rule of one meter distance.

Kulild tells Dagbladet that, despite being fully vaccinated, he wants to be tested against the coronavirus today, and that it is therefore worth standing in line for hours.

– I feel some cold symptoms, and want to check it out, because I do not want to risk infecting others, and would like to visit parents, travel to work and do normal things again. Then it is okay to first get this denied, he says.

He says that he has also tested himself once before. Then he was not allowed to stand in a queue for several hours.

Data trouble

– Do you know why it is so slow today?

– Some nice people came here and said that they had some problems with the computer system in the beginning, Kulild answers.

It is true that it has been, confirms Tove Kjærvik, who is unit manager for testing covid-19 in Bergen municipality.

– Larger parts of the municipal network were down for a short period today, but it is up and running again now, she says to Dagbladet.

In addition to this, she says that there is often more queue at the city’s test stations in the morning, but that it usually evens out during the day.

– We have had quite a lot going on at the test stations the last few days, but we manage to take away all those who want to test themselves. However, one must be aware that there may be some queues, she says.

Increases among teens

In Bergen, 65 new corona infections have been registered in the last 24 hours, according to the municipality.

The 65 new infected since the previous report are distributed as follows in the age groups: 2 (0-5), 4 (6-12), 25 (13-19), 24 (20-29), 7 (30-39), 2 ( 40-49), 1 (70-79), the municipality states in a press release.

38 are close contacts, three are imported infections and 24 have an unknown route of infection.

– We have an increasing infection among teenagers. Half of all cases of infection today are between 15 and 22 years old. Infections are reported associated with a significant proportion of schools in Bergen, and infection in kindergartens is also a growing problem. We have a good dialogue with the hardest hit schools about the level of preparedness at the individual school and will intensify this work in the time ahead, says chief infection control doctor Egil Bovim in a press release.

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the city council stated that the pandemic is now entering a new phase, and that bans and injunctions will be replaced with recommendations.

The following recommendations now apply in Bergen:

– That no more than ten people gather in private homes. Fully vaccinated do not count to the ten.- You should wear a face mask wherever you can not keep a meter away, especially on buses and light rail.

– The municipality asks employers to make it possible for employees who are dependent on public transport to work to have the opportunity to have a home office.

– The municipality asks the university, colleges, vocational schools, folk high schools and others who conduct higher education only use every other seat during lectures, and that face masks are used in common areas.

– Restaurants, restaurants, cafes, canteens and the like continue with the registration of guests, reduce the noise level so that one speaks with a distance of one meter, and that employees and guests still wear face masks when they move in the room.
