When the city council closed all gyms in the municipality on Saturday night, there was a suspicion of the spread of infection in a double-digit number of gyms. The outbreak has ramifications for both the student community and the church community, the municipality stated.
Sunday afternoon reports both Bergensavisen and Bergens Tidende that 50 students have been diagnosed with the infection.
– We have been infected at universities and colleges in Bergen. We have started what we call outbreak management. It is standard procedure with meeting with the schools, where we inform each other about the situation. Traces of infection Traces of infection, we follow up close contacts and quarantine people. Those who are positive are further taken care of by a GP, says Bovim.
He describes the situation as an outbreak with several locations.
– We had some outbreaks a week ago in some denominations. Some students also go there, so we see links from there.

– The gyms that were closed yesterday, are they also in the picture here?
– To the very highest degree. Both students and church people use the gyms, which we are happy about, it is a health-promoting activity in normal time.
On Sunday, 24 new cases of corona infection were registered in Bergen in the last 24 hours. Four have an unknown route of transmission, while five have an uncertain route of transmission, the municipality states websites. According to Bergensavisen, 188 tested positive in one week.
– We do not have a full overview yet, says the assistant infection control doctor and continues:
– But we see that these students and churchgoers are good at testing themselves. We are completely dependent on that. They are also good at giving up their contacts. We have increased the capacity for infection tracking this weekend. Our main point is to get this down as soon as possible, so it does not grow into a Drammen or Oslo situation.
– Are you worried about that?
– In this job, you have to be prepared for things to change quickly, Bovim answers.
