Since Franziska finally regained consciousness in episode 5, fans have been wondering what will happen to her and her baby Johann. The pharmacist had originally intended to emigrate to the USA. But shortly after Franziska got on the plane, very pregnant, she fell into a coma. Months have passed since then and in the meantime the Grubers have gotten used to the presence of little Johann.

“Bergdoktor” season 15: Franziska moves to New York with Johann
In episode 6, she still hoped that she might have changed her mind. When asked about New York by Martin, Franziska explained: “First I’ll learn to walk again and then I’ll take care of the rest!” That sounded anything but like a farewell. In Episode 7, however, her opinion changed again: After a stopover in Munich, she wants to move to New York with the little one and thus stick to her original plan. A shock for the Grubers!

The whole family finds it difficult to imagine having to say goodbye to the little boy for a long time. Martin’s emotional side also comes to the fore here, because he keeps struggling to keep his composure when it comes to his son, he keeps fighting back tears. Full of the pain of saying goodbye, he even asks Franziska to stay in Ellmau and the surrounding area, but his ex-girlfriend remains true to her plan.
When the day finally came for Johann and Franziska to leave, Martin could no longer hold back his tears back at the Gruberhof. It breaks his heart to know he won’t be able to see his son for such a long time! The fact that Franziska gave him a card with a number for Martin to contact if he wanted to spontaneously fly to New York doesn’t make the fact that Johann will be living far, far away any better.
“Bergdoktor” season 16: episode with Franziska in New York?
Will we see Franziska and Johann again in season 16? It’s conceivable, because after his son’s farewell, Martin announces that he urgently needs a vacation. Maybe he’ll be drawn to New York, maybe there will be in the next “Mountain Doctor” squadron an entire episode that will take place in the Big Apple.

Unfortunately, the loss of Martin’s baby isn’t the only thing our favorite alpine doctor has to deal with in the final. Because Anne decides against their relationship and leaves the Gruberhof. Her love is not enough to last a life together, she explains in the farewell letter she leaves to Martin. When Martin reads Anne’s words, he collapses.
