Twenty-three years in prison. This is the request for sentencing by the public prosecutor of the Castrovillari Prosecutor’s Office against Isabella Internò, Denis Bergamini’s ex-girlfriend, the Cosenza footballer found dead on November 18, 1989 in Roseto Capo Spulico, in the Cosenza area. Only Internò is on the dock, against whom mitigating circumstances have also been requested since 35 years have passed since Bergamini’s death and today she has been defined as “another person”.
For the prosecutor it was a crime of passion
From the prosecution’s closing statement it emerged that Denis Bergamini died of suffocation, perhaps with a scarf, and that he was already dead when he was laid out on the asphalt. For the prosecutor Primicerio it was “a crime of passion”. “In 2017 – said the public prosecutor Primicerio in the Court of Cosenza – 101 samples were taken and the experts shared all the activities, including the one on the glycophorin test. All the experts’ tests speak of the compatibility of Bergamini’s body with asphyxia from compression with a soft means, probably a scarf or a bag that may not leave marks on the neck”.
