In its Hungarian School Choice Program, the Rákóczi Association encourages Hungarian or partially Hungarian families living abroad to choose a Hungarian-language school for their Hungarian-speaking children. The Béres Foundation has supported the program since the beginning and, in addition to financial support, also helps the initiative by donating the volumes of József Béres Szép Magyar énk.
This year, the Béres Foundation – with the support of the Prime Minister’s Office and former President Pál Schmitt – donated 1,200 copies of Szép Magyar enék to the Rákóczi Association with the aim of introducing children to Hungarian songs, thereby promoting the preservation and development of Hungarian national consciousness.
The Association will hand over HUF 10 million book donations to the families of children starting school in nearly 500 settlements, together with a scholarship recognizing Hungarian school choice. About 3,600 of the latter in the Highlands, 1,300 in Vojvodina and Croatia, in Transylvania and Partium – Arad, Beszterce-Naszód, Bihar, Hunyad, Fehér, Máramaros, Szeben, Szilágy, Temes counties, as well as the scattered Maros and Cluj counties – for more than 2,400 school starters, and They are given to 200 children from Csangó in Moldova who are receiving Hungarian education, and special attention is also paid to school-starters in Transcarpathia.
