Shortly before the end of the month, Apple announced this year’s winners of the App Store Award 2022 and presented a total of 16 applications, five productive applications and six game downloads, which the company says stand out from the wide mass of software offerings listed in the App Store.
Apple’s selection of apps isn’t necessarily representative of the content that the software department store primarily offers, but it paints a great picture of the mix of app stores that Cupertino prefers in terms of external presentation.
As for the categories in which Apple awards the winners this year, the group focuses on a clear division by device, which in addition to the iPhone app of the year also includes an iPad app of the year, an app for Mac of the Year, an Apple TV App of the Year, and an Apple Watch App of the Year, but adds an additional China Game of the Year to the games category and also recognizes multiple winners in the Cultural Impact category. According to Apple, the latter was expected to have a “lasting impact on people’s lives and culture”.
BeReal is named App of the Year
According to Apple, this is the iPhone application of the year 2022 BeReal social network. This encourages its users to present themselves as authentically as possible with new daily tasks that need to be completed under time pressure. An idea that many competing services like Snapchat and Instagram have already emulated.
Apex Legends Mobile Wins Game of the Year
It’s the iPhone game of the year Apex Legends Mobile of Electronic Arts. The mobile implementation of the popular battle royale strategy shooter also has a very good rating in the German App Store (despite the numerous in-app purchases available).
