Berbr’s people did not survive the cuts in the list of judges! If there were more judges, the changes would be bigger, Příhoda said

“Everyone forms their own team, so do we,” Příhoda said during Monday’s physical tests of professional arbitrators in Strahov, Prague, which started a five-day seminar for Czech judges.

Four names are missing from the list of main arbitrators. For what reason?

We went with the colleagues from the commission name by name, we agreed to eliminate this quartet. It did not meet our criteria, which are currently internal.

Was it one of them that they were connected to the previous regime?

I would not see the connection. It’s just about trust, performance and attitude.

As for the delegates, there were also deleted interesting names led by Miroslav Liba. Why won’t these people continue?

Delegates are the right hand of the panel of judges. And the second league is not so much watched in the media. We need to have people you can count on. To give you quality feedback. So I wouldn’t look for anything in it, everyone forms their own team. Me too.

Was it difficult to exclude these people?

Such a thing is always annoying. But I figured the beginnings in this function would not be easy.

If a higher number of judges were available, were the cuts more extensive?

Yes. We would do more of them. But we had to take into account that there are not so many judges. In addition, there were no amateur competitions. But we don’t want to tear down, we want to build. Everyone gets a chance. It’s up to them how to deal with it.

Are the judges waiting for the rules?

There will be changes, the judges will be acquainted with them at the ongoing seminar. We will introduce them to the public next week. There will be less whistling of playing hands.

Did you like the trend of small video interference on EURO?

Yes. This is how we would like to set it up for us as well. Respectively, we want to get very close to it, but there were eighteen best judges in Europe at the championship, which is not and will not be with us. The euro has given a good impetus to the VAR focusing only on fundamental matters.

Determining the boundary of what is and what is no longer essential will not be easy.

I agree. Take, for example, a penalty kick in the EURO semifinals between England and Denmark. VAR did not intervene according to the set trend in the tournament administration. Contact was there, the penalty was not pointless. If VAR hit, the border would move elsewhere. And it would end up intervening three times in a half. But I don’t mean that I identify with that penalty. However, VAR did not intervene due to the trend.

Will the chore improve the reputation of Czech judges at the international level?

We must raise confidence in the judges in general in the Czech Republic. The boys on the playground have to take care of that. We can’t stick our heads in the sand if it’s wrong. But we will not bother anyone.

Is your contract comparable to your predecessors?

I haven’t signed the contract yet, so I can’t compare. I’ll find out later.

What are you going to do with the season?

With respect. It’s doing well now, the season hasn’t started yet. If the first three rounds fail, we will be under pressure.
