Real Madrid’s French forward Karim Benzema won the Ballon d’Or as the best player in the world on Monday.
Benzema won the award after leading Real Madrid to the Champions League and Spanish league last season, while Egypt’s Mohamed Salah settled for fifth place.
The award for the best club went to Manchester City, champion of the English Premier League, and the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, Benzema’s teammate, won the award for the best goalkeeper in the world.
