Madrid –
Karim Benzema apparently fierce but unfortunately the same Vinicius Junior. Even though he often scolded him, it was solely for the development of his juniors at Real Madrid.
Benzema praised Vinicius’ performance, after helping Madrid beat Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals. Los Blancos won 3-1 at Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, Wednesday (7/4/2021) early morning hrs.
In that match, Vinicius made a brace against Liverpool. His two goals, each in each half, made Madrid’s chance to qualify for the semifinals wide open.
Benzema said he was happy with Vinicius. Although often grumpy, the French striker believes that Vinicius, who is only 20 years old, has quality.
“Vini is a very young player, but I believe in him because he has everything to succeed here,” Benzema told Marca.
“That’s why I talk to him a lot on the pitch. Sometimes it’s a little harsh, but that’s because of it. He can contribute a lot, because he wants to do it, he’s an extraordinary person,” said Benzema of Vinicius.
Previously, Benzema often nagged Vinicius on the field. Vinicius acknowledged that the aging attacker’s instructions sometimes functioned well.
“Every time we play together, he told me to concentrate and relax. I remember the derby match against Atletico Madrid, when I lost the ball and it led to goals,” said Vinicius in his interview some time ago.
“He told me to switch positions, so that I would touch the ball less and get more confidence in the game. And it worked,” he explained.
This season, Vinicius Junior himself has just made 6 goals in all competitions, from 37 matches together Real Madrid. Purchased from Flamengo since 2018, the Brazilian has scored 33 goals.
