Benzema, Atlético, LaLiga, Matallanas and Martínez-Almeida, awarded by the APDM

Madrid, Jan 24 (EFE).- Karim Benzema, Atlético de Madrid, LaLiga and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida will be part of the winners at the VI gala of the Madrid Sports Press Association, next day 31, in which the journalist Carlos Matallanas will receive a posthumous recognition.

The APDM annual gala will distinguish with its awards the contribution made in favor of sport during 2021 by all the agents involved in this activity, such as athletes, companies, entities, clubs and journalists.

On this occasion, the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, will be recognized for the election of Madrid as the World Capital of Sport, Atlético de Madrid, for its League title, Benzema, for his great season, and LaLiga for the work that allowed the competition to develop normally despite the pandemic.

The former Real Madrid basketball captain Felipe Reyes, for his career, the Olympic taekwondo runner-up, Adriana Cerezo, the first Spanish medalist at the Tokyo Games, the Olympic soccer team, which also won silver, and the Spanish Paralympic Committee, for the 36 medals in the Japanese capital, will be other winners.

They will be joined by the sports psychologist of the Madrid CAR, Pablo del Río, the World Football Summit, as the best sporting event of 2021, and the sports journalist Carlos Matallanas, who died of ELA, will be recognized at the gala, which will include a special mention the Municipal Police for their work in holding sporting events in the city, reported the APDM.
