Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema announced on Monday his retirement from international football with his country, after the ‘Roosters’ lost the 2022 World Cup final title to Argentina.
Benzema missed the World Cup finals held in Qatar due to injury, as he left the team’s mission headquarters two days before France’s first match at the World Cup.
Benzema, 35, has published, through his official social media accounts, a photo of himself with the French national team shirt, commenting: I made efforts and mistakes until I got to where I am today and I’m proud of it. He added: I wrote my story, which is over.
