Benovska to Burudzhieva: Borisov – “even without a rooster, it will be dark”, but will it also be dark without the rider of the black horse, Kornelia Ninova? – 2024-05-11 23:15:40

/ world today news/ Prof. Tatiana Burudzhieva, political scientist, in a conversation with Iliana Benovska in the weekly overview political program “Benovska Pita” on “Radio K2” commented on the following topics:

What did the elections show?

Borisov said “even without a rooster, it will be dark”, but I want to add a special nuance to you, will it be dark without the rider of the black horse, Kornelia Ninova? But first your analysis, what happened on the 4th of April 2021?” asked host Iliana Benovska. Tatiana Burudzhieva replied that the signal given by the voters was distrust towards the ruling parties, towards the systemic parties in general, as well as towards the protest parties. No one ever liked anyone enough.

But how much is “enough”, isn’t it enough that 25%-26% like Borisov?” asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that it is not enough to simply be the first political force. You have to be able to form a government, and that’s getting more and more complicated. The current situation is not exactly deadlocked, a way out will be found, but it will be deadlocked if there are further snap elections and they show the same picture.

Borisov and GERB?

The presenter aired Borisov’s statement from a session of the Council of Ministers, in which he said that the ITN should try to form a government, and GERB could support them. Borisov adds that the new elections are not a solution and the way out of the situation is the convening of the Supreme Court.

What did Borisov actually offer to Bulgaria?” asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that Borisov’s message was that there should be a new government, and if that doesn’t happen, GERB are ready for elections. She continued that the protest parties had expected a much better result, with which they could form a government themselves. Furthermore, any action by subjects who are not aware of exactly what their role is cannot be sustainable. “The only common role that ITN, Stand Up! Get out!” and DB is to “scrape” as Mrs. Manolova used to say!” she said.

And will they be able to “crush” Boyko Borisov, because they have all gathered energy against him and are attacking Boyko Borisov?” asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that Borisov is the leader of a party, and to “discredit” him means to “discredit” the voters of this party, which cannot happen. She continued: “If a government is not formed, then there is no time at all for “scrambling”, if the thesis that the entire country is permeated by Boyko Borisov is true, then a big “scrambling” must happen!”

“Isn’t the whole country permeated by Boyko Borisov, on the evening of the 4th he explained how successful he is, how many international connections he has and in the end this is a fact?” he asked Benovska. Burudzhieva answered that this is indeed the case, and the voters asked themselves the question of what would happen after Borisov.

Slavi Trifonov.

Where did Slavi Trifonov disappear to, is he depressed, scared, why is he silent?” asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that Trifonov said he was sick and if that was the case, she wished him a speedy recovery. The political scientist continued that people have high expectations from ITN, even over-expectations, and they should take their political role.

Karadai’s statement that DPS will not support GERB and BSP, but would support a new party government.

“Didn’t Mustafa Karadai speak instead of Slavi Trifonov?” asked the presenter Iliana Benovska. Tatyana Burudzhieva replied that this was hardly the case. She continued that DB consists of 3 parties, “Stand up! Get out!”, also from 3 parties, so together with ITN it becomes 7 parties. These 7 parties must necessarily seek support from one more, no matter which one, so if a government of the new parties is formed, it will include 8 parties. Therefore, the three new formations in the parliament cannot be satisfied with their results, even more so since last summer, according to all the studies, more than 50% of Bulgarians supported the protest and wanted change. That is, even the idea of change among the Bulgarians has not received a clear answer. “That’s why we’re all guessing, then the politicians will be on the move to justify some of our predictions!” added the political scientist.

The position of President Radev.

“Isn’t President Radev the most profitable?” he asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that he was the focus of public attention. The presenter noted that there are public suspicions that Radev is connected to ITN. Her guest remarked that he did not know what these assumptions were based on. She continued that she hoped there was no such backroom. The role that the president has according to the constitution is to help stabilize the state in such a situation.

Is Radev willing, isn’t it more profitable for him to have a caretaker government, for the state to completely “squat down” and for him to prepare the presidential elections?” asked Iliana Benovska. Tatyana Burudzhieva answered that the president has no benefit for the state to “squat down” at a time when he is responsible for it. “But he can say – I formed an interim government out of nowhere, but it cannot do everything, it cannot, for example, propose a plan for recovery and development, which GERB rejected!”, continued Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that people are not interested in what politicians say, but in what happens in their lives. “For the president, a government with Boyko Borisov is the most profitable, because then he has a clear opponent and clear enemies! Then Radev would unite all those who do not like the GERB government!”, she declared.

According to Tatyana Burudzhieva, it would be difficult for the president to form an interim government, because it will be burdened with great expectations, and the time in which it will act will not be enough for the “chattering” that was mentioned a while ago. She continued that in politics the effect is delayed. That is why speaking is important in politics.

BSP.

“I asked you if the BSP would be in doubt without the rider of the black mare Cornelia. She is convening next Saturday’s National Assembly without resigning?”, asked the presenter and aired the speech of Kornelia Ninova after the elections, in which she said that she would not resign in order not to throw the party into chaos. Ninova also says that one or two of the IB members have asked for her resignation.

“It is not one or two who asked for Ninova’s resignation. I will mention some names, there is talk about Krum Zarkov, which is unique because Kornelia Ninova made him the “phoenix bird” with this resignation that he wants, he was her favorite, now he is “on fire”. The other is the one who is responsible for the ideological renewal of the party, Yanaki Stoilov, I wonder what he did for the ideological renewal of the party? The third one they told me, I’m not sure, but I’ll mention it – gen. Brigo Asparuhov. How will you analyze, you currently have a legal dispute with Cornelia Ninova, how will you analyze the fact that Ninova does not have the power to resign, but is it right?” asked the host Iliana Benovska. Tatyana Burudzhieva answered that Ninova spoke about the conclusions she drew after the first resignation, but then the party bodies were the result of an internal party election. After the direct election of Ninova as chairman, the IB is a proposal of the chairman himself, in this sense it is not logical for the IB to resign and Ninova herself not to.

“But isn’t it as Borisov says – ‘success is common, failure is personal’?” he asked Benovska. Burudzhieva answered that the successes in recent years in the BSP are counted as Ninova’s personal successes, and the failure is for the bodies that lead the party. She continued that the BSP needs a serious internal party conversation and it will take place. Benovska noted that he would not be open to the media.

As for Ninova’s lawsuit against her, Tatyana Burudzhieva explained that her bank account has been frozen since January, and the case only started in May. Ninova specifically accuses Burudzhieva of two interviews in Plovdiv. “But Plovdiv comes out with a very strong declaration and says ‘it’s too late for a wrist!'”, he noted Benovska. Burudzhieva continued that Ninova is already suing her own party members and has already filed a lawsuit against Albena Shavel, who is the chairman of the “Odessos” district in Varna. The lawsuits are for Facebook posts. “Tell me, is it possible to have a correct dialogue or analysis when the conversation inside the BSP is conducted through the court with its own members and leadership?” Burudzhieva asked.

“Let us remind the viewers and listeners that you were a member of parliament from the BSP!” he continued Benovska. Tatyana Burudzhieva replied that he was not a member of the BSP. She continued that she was tolerant enough not to press charges because of the things being said about her by people around Nineveh. In the end, however, everyone has the right to judge. In scientific circles this is usually done by committees. “There was a saying from the 1990s – ‘who is short, who is tall’!”, he noted Benovska. Her guest replied: “Unlike many other people, my scientific degrees and titles are given by national committees, not just university ones! I can’t imagine having a conversation in court to prove whether or not I’m competent. That’s why I can’t understand how in a party a conversation between people who are in electoral positions can be conducted through the court!”.

“But besides you, there are also many people hurt in a value system, without sounding pompous, one of them is Georgi Gergov, who was excluded in a strange way!”, he continued Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that he knew people who left the BSP because they were hurt. Not to mention the people who were fired by the Positano administration during the purges.

Is the BSP turning into a “collapse”, Ninova called Borisov a “collapse”?” asked Benovska. Burudzhieva replied that a collapse implies the presence of a massif from which something is being rooted. In the BSP, things are in a state of flux. The reason is not only the electoral loss, it is the tip of the iceberg. The problem is in the way the BSP functions.

The presenter asked her guest what she expects from the plenary session on April 17. She replied that goals were set at the BSP congress by President Ninova himself, and she expects that the conversation will now focus on the implementation of these goals.

I have never been a member of a party, but if there is no resignation of Ninova, this will be another eyewash!”, Benovska declared. Burudzhieva replied that each party has its own views on what responsibility is and what political morality requires. She continued that she is not saying that the BSP would give up Ninova, because the resignation is not always accepted. Resignation is just a symbolic gesture, and becomes real only if it is accepted.

The gift.

Tatiana Burudzhieva presented the leading book on policies towards Bulgarians abroad, of which she is a co-author. She said: “This is a very serious study, it contains extremely synthesized, clear ideas about Bulgarians abroad. I rely a lot on the media because it needs this debate, it will recover. This is about bringing together, as Vice President Yotova says in one of her words, how to bring together Bulgarians everywhere in the world, Bulgarians at home with Bulgarians abroad!”, with which he ended his conversation with Iliana Benovska in the program “Benovska Pita” on “Radio K2” from April 10, 2021.
