Currently 121st in the ATP, Benoit Paire has high hopes for the end of the season. The latest proof? His convincing victory against Kyrian Jacquet (6-1, 6-4) at the Orléans Challenger, which allowed him to reach the round of 16. Well in his game and in his head, Paire also took advantage of the post-match press conference to explain the reasons for his distance from France for a few months.
As honest as ever, he simply explained that he went through a phase during which he was more comfortable and calmer to perform abroad:
It’s always good to win. It’s been a long time since I played in France, so I’m happy. I had moved away a little, because I found that my level was not good enough for what I could offer to the public. I thought it was good to play a little further, with less pressure and fewer demands.
