Montpellier scrum-half Benoit Paillaugue will leave the MHR this summer to join Rugby Club Toulonnais, a club with which he has signed up until June 2024.
Asked via RMC Sport, Benoit Paillaugue explained his decision to leave Montpellier.
He admits to having been disappointed with the proposal made by the MHR to try to keep him.
He thought he deserved better and that’s how he decided to leave to take up an ultimate sporting challenge elsewhere. Extract:
“They made me an offer. It took time and at some point I said stop because I thought I deserved better than that. I said to myself “why not leave? » Fufu stops, Guilhem stops, Kélian stops, Misha stops…it was also a page that was turned, and I wanted to know something else, a different fervor. »
Why did he choose Toulon? Because in Toulon, everything is excessive. He calls himself excessive. Extract:
“I think Toulon is something that suits me a lot, in terms of my mentality. I am a lover of this sport and there is a lot of excitement and expectation there. It’s a bit excessive too, and I’m an excessive person.
It was my last opportunity. And they also offered me two years, and I still want to play. »
To conclude, Benoit Paillaugue indicates that he quickly mourned his departure from Montpellier.
Above all, he recalls having ended his adventure with Montpellier in the most beautiful way. Extract:
