Benoît Hons resigns from all his political mandates in Neupré

Alderman Benoît Hons, excluded from the PS on Friday, resigns from all of his political mandates in the municipality of Neupré, we learned from the mayor Virginie Defrang-Firket (MR). A meeting of the representatives of the majority MR-PS has been held since 11:00.

“The MR of Neupré takes note of the resignation of Benoît Hons from all his political functions within the commune of Neupré and therefore as an alderman”, can we read in a press release sent by the bourgmestre. Friday, the vigilance committee of the Liège section of the PS unanimously decided to exclude Benoit Hons from the party following insulting remarks towards Travelers on Facebook. The elected official, who attacked Travelers by calling them “parasitic specimens” after having been the victim of theft in Spain, had already been suspended from his scabinal functions until further notice. In its press release, the MR section of Neupré highlights “The fact that Benoît Hons has always been a loyal partner among our majority and that he has done quality work as an alderman.”

An amendment to the Majority Pact is now required in order to appoint a replacement. However, the filing of an individual mistrust motion becomes pointless. The replacement of Benoît Hons within the municipal college will be effective at the time of the next municipal council of January 16, specifies the bourgmestre.
