Benko buys Chrysler Building in New York

The Tyrolean real estate investor Rene Benko buys the familiar Chrysler Building in New York. Banks Subsidiary Signa will acquire the traditional building together with the US company RFR for around 150 million dollars, people familiar with the matter told the news agency Reuters.

The two sides are equally involved in a joint venture that signed a purchase agreement with the owner of the 1930 New York landmark on Friday. So far it belongs to an investment company of the emirate Abu Dhabi. In 2008 they paid $ 800 million for 90 percent of the building. In the course of the financial crisis, property prices collapsed and in some cases have not yet fully recovered.
