It was July 16, 2021 in the premises of his institution, where he lent himself to the exercise of blood donation, in the premises of his institution. Through this act, Benjamin Hounkpatin demonstrated his commitment to resolutely invest in national advocacy for increased availability of vital fluid in blood banks. The Minister of Health returned to the importance of donating blood for the benefit of priority targets, namely children from 0 to 5 years old and pregnant women. “By donating blood, we save many lives. The shortage began in our health facilities, especially with the rains. At the level of pediatric services, associations of children suffering from anemic malaria have already started. It is very important that we continue to ensure the availability of blood so that every child, every pregnant woman can benefit from it, ”said the Minister of Health. He then sounded the general mobilization through an appeal to the entire population aged 18 to 65. “I appeal to all the population aged 18 to 65 weighing 50 kilograms and not presenting any disease that contraindicates blood donation, to come out en masse and give blood. This blood donation can be done every 3 months for men and every 4 months for women, ”he suggested.
