Beninese singer explains why justice was seized

The Beninese singer Zeynab was on the set of “Peopl’Emik”, a show of The 3, an Ivorian television channel. In the video of the program posted on Youtube this Monday, May 10, 2021, the interpreter of Bolojo notably mentioned the feud between her and AzCool, a cultural activist in 2017. At the time the Beninese singer Ayodélé participated in RFI Discovery Award. But Zeynab ignored him. She therefore made a video to call for support for a Togolese candidate who was taking part in the same musical competition.

“I have a friend who supported an artist from Togo Prince Mo. She sent me (a message) Watsapp. She said to me: listen, I have my foal participating in the RFI Discovery Prize, can you make a little video for (call on people to support him)? ” says the Beninese singer. She then decides to make the video and it is just after AzCool publishes her post, accusing her of lacking patriotism.

“We dropped the case at court level

Zeynab assures that until this publication of the cultural activist she was unaware that there was a Beninese candidate competing for the prize. “I’m not ashamed to say it because I wasn’t in the country. I was between two planes, and when I got home I inquired about the competition. I tried to meet Ayodélé, I made a video with her… ” she explains. His manager also contacted Azcool to ask him to “Rewrite your text”. But this one refused and to “Continue posting texts saying he was ready to go where he wants with me” remembers the Beninese artist.

This is how the two parties ended up in court because Zeynab’s legal office did not agree that the singer could be denied her patriotism, she who has so much promoted Beninese culture. The singer admits that if it were up to her this case would have been put away but it was the legal department of her label that dragged the so-called AzCool to court. Finally “We dropped the case at court level” informs the Beninese music star.
