The Technical Cell for Social Affairs (CTAAS) of the Ministry of Defense has started its traditional tour of the barracks for the distribution of kits since Monday, September 11, 2023.

At the 6th combined arms battalion of Natitingou, this Tuesday, September 12, 2023, there were several dozen children to receive from the hands of the head of the delegation led by Placide HOUMBADI, Assistant to the Minister of Defense and Franck COMAHOUÉ, Technical Affairs Advisor social services, complete kits of school supplies. From kindergarten to final year through exam classes, each child received their prize consisting of a new school bag containing the essential school supplies for the whole year.

On the occasion of this ceremony, the Technical Advisor for Social Affairs of the Ministry of National Defense provided wise advice to the children. “Put in more effort to be among the best. And the advantage of being among the best in the department is entry to the Prytanée Militaire or the Military High School for Young Girls,” he told them. “It is a privilege for you and you must rise to the challenge,” he concluded.

The head of the delegation, the Minister’s Assistant, was delighted with the fairly encouraging results obtained by these children. He transmitted to them the message of Minister Alain Fortunet NOUATIN who recommends attendance and concentration in classes. Opportunity for him to make an encouraging point: “the State must not invest in children who do not want to work”. Parents and guardians promised to keep constant watch and follow-up to give pride to the Minister of Defense.

After Natitingou and Djougou, the delegation headed for the commune of Kandi. All military garrisons in the north, center and south will receive this mission. In total, more than 870 school supply kits will be distributed. Enough to bring a little ray of sunshine into the sky of these children who are entering the 2023-2024 school year without one of the pillars of their family.

The program “support with school kits for minor and vulnerable orphaned children of soldiers who died in action” which is in its 4th edition is a social action by the government which strengthens the support system for its military personnel who are increasingly engaged in the fight against new threats. It is also intended to be a sign of recognition and solidarity of the military institution towards its personnel.
