Benidorm Fest 2023 Substitutes Revealed: Nena Daconte and Hugo Cobo Among Familiar Faces

With the entrance to the month of May comes Eurovision and the unknowns that we thought were resolved around the festival come to light to surprise us… Or not. Because before the grand final on May 13 in Liverpool, their two corresponding semifinals will arrive. However, prior to these three galas, in our country there was a selection process from among more than 800 applications to compete for a place in the second edition of the Benidorm Fest 2023.

A Benidorm Fest that finally gave the winner to Blanca Paloma and her hey hey but which had top-level performances on its stage such as those of Agoney, Karmento, Vicco, E’Femme and many more. Only 18 were able to present their musical proposal live, but some artists were left out who, perhaps, will try their luck again next year.

In a new commitment to transparency, RTVE has published the list of the six substitutes who were at the gates to participate in our national contest to choose the representative of Eurovision. In the event that a holder could not be there for a justified reason, he would have been replaced by another on this kind of waiting list.

If in 2022 it was Alizz and Cariño who gave the surprise, this year familiar faces like Nena Daconte and Hugo Cobo (OT 2020), as well as emerging artists such as Noan, Bassist, K!ngdom and Loren.

We have already been able to listen to Nena Daconte’s song throughout her tour, but as she already anticipated LOS40, it will be published in a studio version this summer along with another very pleasant surprise for her fans. Hugo, for his part, premiered his song at the end of last year together with his EP A constant you; Bajocero did the same last January. And, in contrast to these artists, we have not yet been able to hear any of the three remaining proposals: neither that of Noan, nor of K!ngdom, nor of Loren. Will it be a matter of time?
