Possible opponents of Benfica in the playoff to access the Champions League, PSV won the Dutch Super Cup with a rout (4-0) over Ajax in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
With the Portuguese Bruma as the unused substitute, Eindhoven’s team lifted the trophy for the 12th time in their history (record of the competition), thanks to goals from Madueke (2), Vertessen and Mario Götze. It should be remembered that PSV won at home against the Danish Midtjylland, by 3-0, in the 1st leg of the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League. The Dutch team is, therefore, well on track to reach the playoff, where they will face the winner of the tie between Benfica and Spartak Moscow – reds won 2-0 in the 1st leg, in Russia.
