Benfica got to know, this Friday, the opponent in the semi-final of the first qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League.
The reds will face Cliftonville Ladies, a team from Northern Ireland, in a game to be played on September 6th.
In case of victory, Benfica will advance to one of the finals of the first round, where they will face the winner of the meeting between WFC Biik-Shymkent (Kazakhstan) and SFK Riga (Latvia), on September 9th.
These four teams form Group 6, which will have one of them as host.
To reach the group stage of the Champions League, a feat it has already achieved in the last two seasons, Benfica will still have to go through a second round, with two-legged games, with the draw scheduled for September 15th and games on September 10th or 11th. October, and then the 18th or 19th of the same month.
In this second round, which features renowned teams such as Wolfsburg, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United, 12 clubs will be selected to join the four already guaranteed a place in the group stage: current European champions, FC Barcelona, along with Lyon, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
