Benfica beat Sporting at Luz this Tuesday, by 3-2, and tied the futsal playoff final, with the two teams now adding a triumph each – both at home. The lions opened the scoring through Alex Merlim, with a direct free kick in the frontal zone, in the 2nd minute of the game, in a move in which Léo Gugiel ended up looking bad in the picture. The reds then reacted and tied through captain Bruno Coelho, who finished off a fine individual move by Chishkala from the left wing (3′). The lions took the lead again in the final seconds of the first half, after a fine recovery of the ball by Erick Mendonça, which made it 2-1 to Pauleta (20′).
In the second half, Benfica entered very strongly looking for the goal that would quickly equalize the scoreboard. In that initial period, Guitta was monstrous, managing to avoid the Benfica goal on numerous occasions with high quality and difficult defenses. Despite the effort, the leonine goalkeeper was unable to block Chishkala’s devastating shot (22′), following a corner kick. The final 3-2 came after half an hour of play, with Léo Gugiel and Jacaré being decisive. The Benfica goalkeeper climbed onto the ground and ‘shot’ and the Brazilian pivot deflected to the bottom of the net.
Benfica wins at Luz and draws the final, confirming that the national championship will be decided, at least, until game 4. The next derby is scheduled for Saturday (17th), at Pavilhão João Rocha.
