The coach of the 2007 Ukrainian national team, Vladimir Yezersky, is interested in the services of the midfielder of the Portuguese giants. According to the source, the football player’s family and the player himself agreed to play for the Ukrainian national team.
Vakalyuk is the son of emigrants from Ukraine, who was born in Portugal. He is a graduate of Benfica and plays for the U-17 team. To compete for the Ukrainian national team, he needs to acquire Ukrainian citizenship. The player’s family even traveled from Portugal to Madrid for this purpose, but the process of obtaining a Ukrainian passport will take several months.
Thus, Vakalyuk will not help the Ukrainian national team at the first stage of qualifying for Euro U-17. The coaching staff hopes that the player will wear the yellow and blue jersey in the next round of qualifying in 2024.
Andre operates as a central midfielder. At the Benfica Academy since 2018. He was one of the candidates for the Portuguese national team born in 2007.
From October 15 to 21, the Ukrainian national team born in 2007 will hold the first round of qualifying for Euro U-17. Among the competitors are teams from Germany, Finland and Liechtenstein (host of the competition). The top two teams qualify for the elite round.
