The goals in the competition’s third round match were scored by João Mário (09 minutes), Rafa (36), Arthur Cabral (68) and Tiago Gouveia (87), with the home team’s goal being scored by Enzo Ferrara (45 ), penalty.
The rain that hit the island of Terceira did not stop the Cup celebration, which took place in a packed stadium to welcome the ‘reds’.
Even without showing great intensity, Benfica dominated the match, installing themselves in the opposite half of the field and making several dangerous moves.
Lusitânia, in turn, always tried to present a game of possession, but had no arguments against the power of the ‘eagles’.
In the first half, the Terceira team’s resistance only lasted nine minutes, when João Mário, assisted by Aursnes, opened the scoring with class with a backheel shot.
After several opportunities, the ‘reds’ scored the second goal in the 35th minute through Rafa, assisted by Chiquinho.
The home team, however, returned to the discussion of the result eight minutes later: by taking a penalty, Enzo Ferrara reduced the advantage, scoring a goal that will go down in the century-old history of the Azorean club.
In the second half, the game continued to be played at a low pace and Benfica, wastefully, wasted scoring opportunities. The home team, on the other hand, never gave up looking for attacking attacks, which never had much consequence.
In the 68th minute, Arthur Cabral, who had already missed two chances to score, found the net and made it 3-1, scoring his first goal with a red shirt.
Near the end, in the 87th minute, Tiago Gouveia, in an excellent individual play, dribbled past the opponent’s defense, entered the Azorean area and ‘poked’ the ball over goalkeeper Diogo Sá, scoring the fourth goal and closing the scorer’s account.
