This Friday, Benfica secured qualification for the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup by scoring, for 6-0Freamunde.

At the end of the match, Filipa Patão congratulated the team that competes in the 3rd division for the way they fought on the field. “Congratulations to the opponent for giving us this moment of football and this game at the Freamunde Stadium. For us, it is very gratifying. Certainly for Freamunde it was a different moment, in which they were able to play in a Portuguese Cup tie and they did very well. Congratulations to the structure, the team and the entire club for their performance”, said the coach, according to statements reproduced on Benfica’s official website.

Meanwhile, the coach also commented on the evolution that women’s football has had in Portugal. “The path is made by walking and it seems to me that we are taking good steps. Slowly, steadily, but I repeat again: that there are more entities involved in the growth of the sport and that they can approve the situation so that we can all evolve.”
