Benfica Coach Suspended by Portuguese Handball Federation Following Derby Confusion

The Portuguese Handball Federation has preventively suspended the coach of Benfica, Chema Rodríguez, for the confusion at the end of the derby with Sporting, last Saturday, in Luz, counting for the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup, where the lions accuse the Spaniard assaulting Ricardo Costa, coach of Sporting.

Until the Federation decides again on the case and applies the definitive punishment to Chema, the coach will be prevented from sitting on the bench of the eagles.

The Disciplinary Council of the FPA also opened an inquiry to ‘clean up’ the confusion after the end of the match, won by Sporting (34-30).
