This past Friday, Benfica defeated Sevilla, 4-3, in the Algarve Women’s Football Cup, in a match that saw the Reds turn around after two goals from Christy Ucheibe in the last five minutes.

The Spanish team opened the scoring in the 9th minute, with Chilean Millaray Cortés and Lúcia Moral, in the 23rd minute, they extended their lead (2-0) by scoring with a header after a corner.

The Eagles responded with a goal from Crsitina Martin-Prieto (29′), but immediately, the Andalusian team restored the two-goal difference, through Natallia Padilla (30′). However, Carole Costa kept the Reds in the conversation about the game by scoring a penalty before half time (44′).

The conversion was achieved only at the end of the duel, with a double from Nigerian Christy Ucheibe (89′ and 90 + 3′).

With this victory, Benfica postponed the decision on the winner of the competition until Saturday, when they will face Sporting, in the last game of the competition. This is because, after the match, for the purposes of the later competition, Sevilha was better than the Luz club in receiving penalties (5-3), after Lara Martins and Clarinha than opportunities they lose.
