Waspada.co.id – A smile makes a person appear more attractive. A smile can also make the world feel more peaceful. One day every year, on the first Friday of October, World Smile Day is celebrated.
This year’s World Smile Day celebration takes on a theme related to how important it is to do good to help others smile. “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile (Do good, help one person smile), “as quoted Firstpost.
The celebration of World Smile Day was first started by businessman and artist from Worcester in Massachusetts, Harvey Ball.
Quoting from the page Awareness Days, Ball first created a work in the form of a smiley face or Smile Face in 1963. However, it was not until 1999 that World Smile Day was officially established and became an annual celebration tradition.
Then in 2001, a foundation was created in Harvey’s memory. The foundation is known as the Harvey Ball Smile Foundation. The foundation is still actively continuing the legacy of Ball in the form of celebrating World Smile Day every year.
