Benefits of Black Cumin and Pare for Diabetics

Black cumin and bitter melon are not only useful as cooking ingredients. The reason is, herbs and vegetables are useful as natural medicine for diabetics.

According to Doctor Danar Wicaksono from the Sardjito Central General Hospital (RSUP), Yogyakarta, black cumin and bitter melon have benefits for reducing blood glucose levels to help insulin production in the body.

“So black cumin, known as Black Seed, has a substance called Thymoquinone. This substance can help reduce blood glucose levels which are the cause of diabetes,” said Danar, as quoted by Antara.

Danar explained, in a study conducted by a researcher named Reza Mohebbati last year, namely diabetics who consumed black cumin extract, it was found that glucose levels in the blood decreased better when compared to patients who took drugs.

In addition to reducing glucose levels in the blood, black cumin also functions as an immunomodulator that improves the body’s immune system even better.

“Furthermore, natural ingredients that also have good benefits for diabetics are bitter melon,” he said.

Danar also mentioned that bitter melon has long been used for treatment for diabetics.

Pare which has been extracted for the treatment of diabetes has the benefit of increasing insulin production by stimulating the pancreas through a substance called Charantin.

Insulin is needed by diabetics in order to lower glucose levels in the body that are not processed into energy sources.

With the many benefits of both black cumin and bitter melon, Danar encourages diabetics to use both to improve the body’s metabolism which is disturbed due to the buildup of blood sugar in the body.
