The three basic benefits of OPECA are significantly strengthened from January 1, 2025 in the context of targeted government actions to support the family.
Specifically, the Minimum Guaranteed Income is increased to 250 euros (from 216 euros), as is the increase for each child to 75 euros (against 50 euros), while the income criteria for granting it are also increased proportionally.

The housing allowance from 70 euros increases to 125 euros and 75 euros, depending on the income scale, while a movable property criterion will also apply.
As far as the child benefit is concerned, the 1st scale increases to 75 euros and to 150 euros for the third and subsequent children. However, property criteria of movable and immovable property are introduced, which currently do not exist. At the same time, the 2nd and 3rd income scales are unified into one, with the result that the amount for the beneficiaries of the 3rd scale increases from 28 euros per child, to 45 euros and to 90 euros for the third child and subsequent ones.
For example, those who were in the third income category and received an allowance of 28 euros per month for a child will now receive 45 euros. Those who had two children and received 56 euros per month will now receive 90 euros, those who had three children and received 112 euros per month will now receive 180 euros, while with four children and an income of the third scale, from the 168 euros they receive today, they will receive 270 euros.

Also, lifelong recognition of the three-child status is foreseen in almost 200,000 families.
The certification will be done through a platform, which cross-references the registry data. Thus, the quota for civil service recruitments for those with three children is increased, so that it rises to the same percentage as those with many children from 12% to 16% of the total number of announced positions.
The benefits that apply to those with many children have already been extended to those with three children and with regard to their participation in the housing programs, while also in the availability of vouchers for daycare centers, families with three children, many children and single parents have a common “bonus” of 40 points.
Prepaid unemployment card
Finally, within the current month, the distribution of the prepaid card is expected to begin, where part of the benefits received by the beneficiaries will be credited, while the remaining amount (50%) of the benefit will be given in cash.
In practice, this means that a beneficiary of OPECA benefit or unemployment benefit from DYPA – amounting to 500 euros – will be able to spend 250 euros via a prepaid card and the other 250 euros in cash.
Also, the beneficiaries of the prepaid card will participate in raffles, lotteries and reward programs that will be conducted by both the banks and the competent bodies.
